MessageP.F.C. Ferdinand (Junior) DePappa JR. AGE19 at death. Trained in Ft. Riley, Kansas in 1949. Sent to korea Jan 20, 1950. Hospitalized on Aug 12, 1950 with malaria. Sent back to the front lines 5 days later and was klled the next day on Aug 18, 1950. It was during a dawn attack of the North Koreans.
He recieved the Silver Star for his gallantry and the Purple Heart.
I am looking for anyone who knew him either in training at Ft. Riley, Kansas or in active duty in Korea. I am his niece and was born 4 yrs. after his passing and never had the opportunity to meet him or thank him for my freedom. As a child gtowing up I allways felt a strange sort of connection to him.
I have two sons, one was born on his birth date and looks just like him and my other son was born on his death date.

MessageMy Father-in-law fought on Old Baldy. Why do I know this? Because it took me about 6 years to finally get him to talk about it. He wrote his girl friend for his whole tour over there. She is now his wife of 50 yrs. A year ago his wife made a compilation of these letters into a book. WOW what a story, his name is LEROY HANKE. Salem, Illinois. If you know him drop me a line

MessageI read what you wrote about my grandfather Harold Bade, and how my dad, Richard Bade, served in the military. I married into military also. It's nice to see that my grandfather's life is written down somewhere.

MessageI am currently doing a study of the patches and pins that my father, John Chester Beamon wore during the Korean War Conflict. I have found some info but I have one pin that I am curious about. I don't know if you can help with this by Christmas, but if there is something out there that I'm not aware of, please let me know. I've searched just about every web site. Thanks, Cheryl Beamon (Youngest Daughter)

MessageI was in Korea in all of 1966 until May 1967. I was a member Company C - 304th Signal battalion and 258th Signal company - 304th Signal Battalion. I was stationed at Camp Humphreys, Camp Baker, and Ascom. I have been investigating what happened to my old duty stations. This site has been a great help. I am amazed at how much the country has changed in the last 40 years. Sgt. Ken Burton
